    Digicel Group Increases First Half Profit by 10%


    Kingston, Jamaica - Nov. 17 2009: Digicel, the largest mobile operator in the Caribbean and fastest growing operator in Central American, reported a 10% increase in its half year profit (EBITDA) to US$364 million on revenues of US$857 million.

    Digicel Introduces Voluntary Separation Programme

    Kingston -- Jan. 20, 2009 --  Digicel Group, the largest mobile operator in the Caribbean and new entrant to the Central American market, today introduced a Voluntary Separation Programme (VSP) for staff across 23 markets, designed to better align the organisation and overall cost structure with evolving economic conditions.


    Digicel to Reduce Staff Via Voluntary Separation

    Kingston -- Jan. 13, 2009 -- Regional telecommunications giant Digicel is to cut its workforce across the region by more than 450, with Jamaica accounting for the majority of persons to be sent home.


    Kingston, Jamaica: Feb. 19, 2010 -- Digicel owner and Chairman, Denis O’Brien, has been named as a goodwill ambassador for the city of Port-au-Prince in Haiti, it was announced today.

    Feb. 13, 2010 -- On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled in LIME's favour regarding an ongoing dispute with Digicel which had blocked its international call circuits resulting in LIME losing revenue.

    Kingston -- Jan. 22, 2010 -- Digicel Jamaica has lost a legal battle in its long-standing resistance to the regulatory control of the Office of Utilities regulation (OUR), in respect of pricing for interconnection.

    Jamaica: LIME sues Digicel

    Oct. 28, 2009 -- Telecommunications Company, LIME, has filed a lawsuit against Digicel over the call charges being imposed to call Digicel mobile phones from LIME landlines.

    Oct. 23, 2009 -- The Committee for the Privatisation of The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited has recommended to Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham that four interested groups be allowed to bid for a 51 per cent stake in the state-owned firm.
