We are a youth based organisation which since our inception in the early 1990’s has focused primarily on issues related to the environment and youth in the Caribbean region. The work of CYEN over the years has served to empower young people through education and advocacy for the voice of the youth in matters such as the environment.

On Saturday 31 March 2012 at 8:30pm, the Caribbean Youth Environment Network (Barbados Chapter) and our members will join hundreds of millions of people across the globe in switching off the lights at our homes and offices for one hour - Earth Hour, the world’s largest public action for the environment. By taking part in this global ‘lights out’ event we will be acknowledging our commitment to personal and operational actions that benefit the planet in the year ahead.
Water Situation in Barbados Threatens to Derail Island’s Green Economy Thrust

March 22, 2012 - Barbados has been ranked as the 7th most water scarce country in the world, yet is is estimated that that Non-Revenue Water (NRW), inclusive of leakage, has been estimated at approximately 50% of total water distributed. This is a matter of significant concern in light of this nation’s clear thrust towards developing Barbados as a green economic model for Small Island Developing State (SIDS) across the globe.
