Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) through mid-October 2009,

After gradually falling since 2002, inflation in Latin America and the
Caribbean climbed to 6.5% in 2007, and in the 12 month-period up to
June 2008, had already accumulated an 8.9% increase. This situation is
affecting almost the entire region, and is posing several problems and
policy dilemmas to governments, says ECLAC's Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2007-2008, released recently by Executive Secretary Alicia Bárcena.
