April 20, 2009 -- Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer is returning from Trinidad buoyed and
hopeful that the country’s financial services sector will be looked
upon more favourably by the United States. PM Spencer reported
that Antigua and Barbuda and the other members of Caricom made a strong
case against the hard line stance taken by America against their
offshore sector, frowned upon as providing tax havens for US citizens
trying to avoid paying their due to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
