Aug. 17, 2012 - Government yesterday unveiled a new tourism brand aimed at rejuvenating the industry with the slogan ‘Bermuda: So Much More’. With Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert declaring a new day for Bermuda tourism, his Ministry announced plans to hit cities in the United States, Canada and Europe with a slick series of adverts on television, print, online and radio.

Aug. 14, 2012 - Prior to 1995, tourism was a significant contributor to the economy, representing between 20% and 36% of the national output (GDP). With the destruction of a considerable proportion of the island’s natural resource base and infrastructure, coupled with concerns about safety, tourism industry was decimated and now accounts for less that 5% of the economy (GDP).

Antigua: Visitor arrivals looking up

St. John’s, Antigua-- July 12, 2012 --Antigua & Barbuda is reporting an increase of 12 per cent from last year in visitor arrivals to the twin-island state.

Castries - July 11, 2012 -- Prime Minister  Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has written to the UK Chancellor, Honourable George Osborne, raising the concerns of what he has described as the “deleterious effect that UK Air Passenger Duty continues to have on the economies of the Caribbean.


July 10, 2012 - The Organization of American States (OAS) is organizing a forum for Caribbean Small Hotels in Antigua and Barbuda that will provide owners and operators access to new information on service quality, the culture of hospitality, social responsibility, marketing, technological tools and information systems for the tourism sector and the use of social media by small hotels. The forum will be held at the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute in Antigua from July 12 to 13.

Kingston - July 6, 2012 - The local tourism product is set to receive a boost with the addition of more than 2,000 new rooms.

Port-of-Spain - July 5, 2012 - Trinidad and Tobago needs US$300 million to promote its tourism product. This was disclosed yesterday by recently appointed Tourism Minister Stephen Cadiz.

Kingston - July 4, 2012 - In an effort to attract more tourists to the island, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) is in the process of developing a new advertising campaign for destination Jamaica.

St. George's - July 2, 2012  - The Minister of Finance, Hon. Nazim Burke, together with the Minister for Tourism, Senator George Vincent, and other senior Government Officials, on Thursday June 28, 2012, met with a representation of the hotel sector to discuss and explore feasible options on issues currently affecting the sector.

Basseterre - June 21, 2012 (CUOPM) – The Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Ricky Skerritt has been defending the recent decision by at least two regional governments to introduce new taxes in the tourism sector, even as the region criticises Britain’s increased aviation tax, Air Passenger Duty (APD), which tourism officials say is affecting visitor arrivals to the Caribbean.

June 19, 2012 - On Thursday, May 30, a sizeable number of tourism related personnel along with a few public service officials, to include three of the four legislators presently on the island, gathered at the Montserrat Cultural Centre. They were there at the invitation of the Tourism Board (MTB) to participate in the planning of a tourism strategy consultation on the design of the next phase of Montserrat’s Tourism Development Plan.
