    Hugo Chavez Dies

March 6, 2013 - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has died aged 58, after 14 years in power.

St. George's - Feb. 20, 2013 - (CMC) — The main Opposition New National Party (NNP) won yesterday's general election.

Bridgetown - Jan. 30, 2013 - The speculation is over. Barbadians will go to the polls on Thursday, February 21, to decide which political party will run the affairs of this country for the next five years.

Jan. 24, 2013 - Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London yesterday drafted a proposal for submission to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar calling upon the Central Government to urgently pass legislation to amend the THA Act in order to make provision for a situation were there is a 12-0 result and there is no Minority Leader or opposition voice within the debating Assembly.

Jan. 22, 2013 - The Peoples’s National Movement (PNM) won all 12 seats in yesterday’s Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election.

Jan. 14, 2013 - Grenadians go to the polls on February 19. Prime Minister Tillman Thomas made the announcement yesterday, as he addressed hundreds of supporters at a rally of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

St. George's - Jan. 10, 2013 - As such I now wish to advise that today I advised his Excellency the Governor General to dissolve the parliament of Grenada. This act paves the way for the setting of an election date within the next ninety days.

Dec. 12, 2012 - The people of the Cayman Islands will be aware of the arrest this morning of the Hon Premier of the Cayman Islands. An occurrence of this nature cuts deep in our small and close-knit community. The reputational impact affects us all to a greater or lesser degree. I am moved to make this short statement at this point, in response to two related concerns:

Nov. 13, 2012 - The Progressive National Party (PNP) has been declared the official winner of the November 9th general elections, and Dr. Rufus Ewing will be sworn in as the next Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands “at the earliest possible opportunity”, according to Dr. Philip Rushbrook, Director of Strategy in the office of Governor Ric Todd.

St. Thomas - Nov. 6, 2012 - (posted online Nov. 5): Thirty-six hours before the polls open for Election Day, the St. Thomas-St. John Board of Elections had yet to certify its electronic voting machines.

Port-of-Spain - Sept. 24, 2012 - People's National Movement political leader Dr Keith Rowley has given Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar until Wednesday to get rid of Attorney General Anand Ramlogan. Addressing his party's Arima constituency 43rd annual conference at the Arima Town Hall last evening, Rowley, who quoted from Hansard, criticised Ramlogan's contribution in Parliament about the Opposition's acceptance of Section 34, when he said both Rowley and another Opposition MP had given their "qualified unconditional support for the abolition of the preliminary enquiry bill" in the house.

St. George's - Aug. 30, 2012 - The NNP had the opportunity to govern Grenada for thirteen years. When they were voted out of Office, they did not leave behind an economy that was geared-up, productive and strong enough to pay our debts over the long-term. Unfortunately, their borrowing was not planned to produce future streams of revenues.

Georgetown - Aug. 17, 2012 - President Donald Ramotar delivered on his promise to visit Linden and meet face-to-face with residents for talks having been satisfied that the town has returned to normalcy a few days after the Joint Services cleared the thoroughfares from blockades planted by protestors in opposition to the new electricity tariff imposition.

July 19, 2012 - (caycompass.com): By early Thursday morning, it appeared a referendum that aimed to change the Cayman Islands’ voting system would pass with a large majority of voters who participated.  However, despite the significant majority of Cayman Islands voters backing the ‘one man, one vote’ referendum question, the “yes” votes were not nearly enough to achieve the “magic number” of 7,582 needed to legally bind the government to enact the single member district voting system.

June 28, 2012 - The UK Government renews and strengthens Britain's relationship with the Overseas Territories today with the publication of its White Paper, "The Overseas Territories: Security, Success and Sustainability" available at: http://www.fco.gov.uk/resources/en/pdf/publications/overseas-territories-white-paper-0612/ot-wp-0612
