    At the Conclusion of the Seventh Ministerial UK-Caribbean Forum held in St. Georges, Grenada, Ministers Agreed:

    Economic Resilience

    To establish a new strategic partnership between the countries of the Caribbean and the United Kingdom to promote prosperity and build economic resilience through the development of practical mechanisms which will enhance growth in investment, employment, production and trade opportunities to the benefit of the Caribbean and the UK;



    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana - Jan. 23, 2012 - First, we have significantly increased our development programme for the Caribbean. With plans to invest 75-million pounds over a 4-year period, a considerable increase on previous aid budgets, we see it as a sign of our strong commitment to the region as well as right and necessary in itself.

    Roseau - Jan. 11, 2012 - (dominicanewsonline.com): The judgement stated clearly that both petitions were dismissed because the petitioners had failed to establish their case, that as pertained to PM Skerrit, that they had failed to prove that he had become a French citizen of his own free will.  A relieved Skerrit, speaking from his office after the case (he was not in court for the judgement), insisted that he had not denied having French citizenship, but made it clear that it was something obtained for him as a child by his mother


    Kingston - Jan. 6, 2012 - One important agenda item will be to establish the Caribbean Court of Justice in its final appellate jurisdiction; and in this way, end judicial surveillance from London. We must fully repatriate our sovereignty.

    Kingston--Dec. 30, 2011— The People's National Party (PNP) has won the General Election, which was held on December 29. Preliminary results have shown that the PNP, led by its President, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, won 41 seats, while the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), led by its Leader, former  Prime Minister, Hon. Andrew Holness, won 22 seats.

    Georgetown -- Dec. 6, 2011 - Eleven new appointments have been made in a 20-member Cabinet that was set up by new President of Guyana Donald Ramotar who delivered on his promise to make the installation within 48 hours of his inauguration to the Presidency.

    Kingston - Dec. 5, 2011 - Jamaicans will elect a new government on December 29. Prime Minister and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Andrew Holness announced the date in Mandeville, Central Manchester, last night where thousands of Labourites gathered for a mass meeting.

    Georgetown - Dec. 2, 2011 - Mr Donald Ramotar has been declared President elect of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana after the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) secured 48.6 percent of the votes in the 2011 General and Regional elections.

    Dec. 1, 2011 - For the general and regional elections of November 28, 2011, the OAS Electoral Observation Mission fielded 25 observers from 14 countries in 9 of the country’s 10 administrative regions, and has maintained a 24-hour presence in the GECOM tabulation center since the close of polls. 



    Georgetown - Nov. 29, 2011 - (guyanachronicle.com): Delays in getting hard copies of Statements of Poll from yesterday’s general and regional elections have prevented the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) from providing any preliminary results up to late last night, following the closing of  polls at 18:00 hrs.
