    Nov. 7, 2010 -- The Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), has elected William Warren Smith, PhD, to serve as the fifth President of the regional institution based in Barbados. The election took place at a special meeting of the Governors held on Friday October 29, 2010.

    Nassau, Bahamas – May 20, 2010 -- The Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved an increase in the Bank’s ordinary capital by USD1 billion, the largest expansion of resources in the Bank’s history.

    Bridgetown -- Jan.31, 2010 --Preliminary estimates indicate that economic output contracted in most regional economies in 2009, reflecting the lagged impact of the global financial crisis and economic recession.

    Dec. 12, 2009 -- The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved a US $30 million dollar loan to Antigua & Barbuda.




    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana -- May 26, 2009 -- Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have agreed that the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) should be a vehicle for all development resources of the Region and in this regard should be restructured to become more responsive to the needs of the Region.

    St. John's -- Dec. 29, 2008 -- The government is in the process of securing an $81 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) to facilitate any shortfalls, which may arise in the 2009 budget as a result of the global financial crisis.

    Dec. 17, 2008 -- The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved a loan, equivalent to USD100 million to the Government of Jamaica.  The policy-based loan will support the government’s fiscal and debt sustainability initiatives.

    Bridgetown - Jan. 19, 2012 - The CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) have partnered in an initiative which is designed to assist the region's exporters in accessing opportunities in the European Union (EU).


    Dec. 14, 2011 - The Board of Directors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has approved the use of USD275,000  to assist in financing a consultancy to conduct an assessment of the state of the water sector in all of the Bank’s borrowing member countries (BMCs), with the exception of Haiti.

    Basseterre - Dec. 5, 2011 The Federal Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is in advanced discussions with the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) on a partial guarantee from the CDB to be attached to the new instruments that will be issued by the Government to participating creditors as part of the comprehensive debt restructuring exercise that is currently underway.


    Bridgetown - Nov. 29, 2011 - Senior level representatives from public sector institutions involved in the transportation and road infrastructure sector in the Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) are to attend a Road Sector Institutional Reform Workshop at the Bank’s Headquarters in Barbados on December 1 and 2, 2011

    Charlestown - Nov. 21, 2011 -  Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry visited the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Headquarters, and met with CDB President, Dr. William Warren Smith, and other top officials during his recent visit to Barbados, November 7th-10th.

    The Valley -- Nov. 17, 2011 - The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has reviewed and approved the release of Anguilla’s Sustainable Tourism Masterplan  (STMP) according to Dr Aidan Harrigan, Permanent Secretary of Tourism.


    Bridgetown - Nov. 1, 2011 - The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and Micro Insurance Catastrophe Risk Organisation SCC (MiCRO) have signed a grant agreement supporting a catastrophe micro-insurance programme for Haiti.
