    Nov. 29, 2011 - Professor Gordon Shirley, Chief of the Organization of American States (OAS) Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) in Guyana, said today that the OAS\EOM continues to monitor the results gathering process following the November 28, 2011, regional and general elections.

    Nov. 29, 2011 - Led by Dr. Rosina Wiltshire from Barbados, the OAS deployed an Electoral Observation Mission composed of 14 international observers who observed the voting process in all 17 constituencies of Saint Lucia as well as the campaign period immediately preceding the general elections. 


    Nov. 29, 2011 - On Nov. 28,, at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS), delegations of Belize and Guatemala, headed by their respective Foreign Ministers, the Honorable Wilfred Elrington and His Excellency Haroldo Rodas Melgar, met with OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza, in a highly cordial and cooperative atmosphere.


    Nov. 23, 2011 - Professor Gordon Shirley, the Chief of Mission for the Organization of American States Electoral Observation Mission in Guyana (OAS/EOM) arrived yesterday in Georgetown, Guyana to prepare for the OAS/EOM that will be deployed for the November 28, 2011 Guyanese General Elections. 


    Nov. 22, 2011 - The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of Saint Lucia today signed the Agreement of Immunities and Privileges for the OAS Electoral Observation Mission for the General Elections that will take place in the Caribbean nation on November 28.

    Nov. 15, 2011 - The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Albert Ramdin, said the signing of a Code of Conduct by all political parties participating in Guyana’s Presidential Campaign is a sign of responsibility and commitment that must be commended.

    Nov. 14, 2011 - The use of applied science, technology and innovation to improve competitiveness and achieve prosperity in the countries of the region will be one of the main focal points of the Third Meeting of Ministers and High Authorities of Science and Technology from the Americas, to be held this Thursday and Friday, November 17 and 18, 2011, in Panama City, with the support of the Organization of American States (OAS).

    The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago will hold on November 17 and 18 in Port of Spain the Third Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA III), as part of the preparatory events for the Sixth Summit of the Americas, to be held in April 2012 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.


    Oct. 20, 2011 -- Joy-Dee Davis-Lake, Alternate Representative in the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC, assumed the chairmanship of the OAS Committee that will conduct a new round of negotiations to draft an Inter American Convention on Racism, Discrimination and All Forms of Intolerance.

    Oct. 20, 2011 -- The Government of Italy today presented before the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) a report on the results of the Fifth Conference between the European country and Latin America and the Caribbean, held on October 4 and 5 in Rome.

    Oct. 14, 2011 - The Prime Minister of Aruba, Michiel Godfried Eman, said today at the Thirty-third Policy Round Table of the Organization of American States (OAS) that current conditions of prosperity in his country would not be possible without the security ties it shares with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the United States and other governments of the region.

    Oct. 12, 2011 - The Organization of American States (OAS) and the U.S. Department of State will host on October 12 in Barbados a roundtable discussion about Caribbean sustainable energy aimed at advancing dialogue among Caribbean energy public sector leaders, multilateral development organizations, bilateral donors and other key energy players of the areas that seek to continue with the efforts to improve coordination and development toward a more sustainable energy sector for the Caribbean Region.

    Oct. 7, 2011 - The Organization of American States (OAS) today donated a firearms marking machine to the Government of St. Lucia to be used by its Ministry of National Security with the objective of improving controls against the illicit trafficking in this type of weapon.


    Sept. 10, 2011 - Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago have officially notified their consent for receiving on-site visits for the Fourth Round of Review of the Mechanism for Follow-up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC).


    Aug. 19, 2011 - More than 30 top CEOs and business executives from Central America and the Caribbean gathered in El Salvador this week on the margins of the Third SICA-CARICOM Summit of Leaders, to discuss meaningful ways of expanding trade and investment in the face of the global economic slowdown.
