    CARICOM, Guyana -- Nov. 20, 2010 --An online information gateway that would add momentum to efforts geared towards the creation of a Regional Information Society was launched on Wednesday November 17 at the Fifth Meeting of the Regional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Steering Committee, in St. Michael, Barbados.

    C@RIBNET On Stream For Next Year

    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana -- Oct. 22, 2010 - The regional tertiary education sector will get a major boost, next year, when eight countries of the 15-member Caribbean Community will have their tertiary institutions connected through a regional broadband fibre optic network called C@ribNet.


    Sept. 27, 2010 -- The implementation of the Caribbean Health Authority (CARPHA) was one of the priority issues on the agenda of the 19th Caucus of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministers of Health which concluded Sunday, (26 September, 2010) at the PAHO Headquarters in Washington DC.


    Sept. 3, 2010 -- The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Ministers responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and other Heads of Delegations, hereinafter referred to as the “Foreign Ministers”, meeting in Tokyo on 2 September 2010, confirmed the steady development of Japan-CARICOM relations based on “A New Framework for Japan-CARICOM Cooperation for the Twenty-first Century” adopted in 2000.

    St George's, Grenada, CMC - Aug. 18, 2010 -- Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders have agreed to the establishment of a Council of Ambassadors as a new mechanism they hope will lead to the effective implementation of decisions taken in the efforts to deepen the regional integration movement.


    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana -- Aug. 4, 2010 --  His Excellency Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has notified the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community of his decision to step down from his position, effective 31 December 2010.

    July 26, 2010 -- During a recent meeting of the Group of Friends of Haiti, the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert R. Ramdin, informed that the hemispheric organization and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will send a joint Electoral Observation Mission to Haiti in preparation for the legislative and presidential elections of November 28.

    July 8, 2010 -- Heads of Government recognised that countries in the Caribbean were still struggling to achieve positive economic growth owing to the sluggish nature of the global recovery from the financial and economic crisis.

    MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, July 5, 2010 -- Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn met today at the CARICOM summit at Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
