    COFCOR considered the matter of the Caribbean Sea and endorsed the proposal for operationalising the Caribbean Sea Commission as a key regional ocean’s governance mechanism. The COFCOR considered a number of initiatives for intensifying action nationally, regionally and internationally for further enhancing the Region’s security. In this context, they considered the forthcoming negotiation of an Arms Trade Treaty to be of special importance and endorsed the Draft CARICOM Declaration on Small Arms and Light Weapons.


    May 5, 2011 - The Hon. Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister of Grenada and Chairman of the Conference of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government, on Wednesday recorded the Community’s satisfaction with the death of Osama Bin Laden.

    April 11, 2011 - A bill was passed in the House of Assembly at its sitting on the 5th April 2011 to authorize the Government to borrow US$2.57 million from the CARICOM Development Fund.

    March 22, 2011 - The OAS-CARICOM Joint Electoral Observation Mission has observed through the 201 observers that it deployed throughout the country that the second round of the presidential and legislative elections was quite an improvement in many ways on the first round


    Bridgetown, 4 March 2011: Saint Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines are expected to sign Country Assistance Programmes (CAPs) with the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) by early April. The CDF will provide loans and grants totaling US$6, 102,000.00 to Saint Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines will receive a CAP of US$4,210,000.00.


    March 2, 2011 -- In noting that there appeared to be a loss in the momentum with regard to the regional integration agenda, Heads of Government agreed there was a need to reassess approaches with a view to determining modalities that would re-energise the Regional Integration endeavour, in accordance with their vision.

    Feb. 26, 2011 - The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel Insulza, and Heads of Government from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) today concluded extensive consultations on developments in Haiti, specifically the ongoing electoral process and the work of the Joint OAS-CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission (JEOM).

CARIPASS, the first multilateral border crossing program in the world, is a voluntary travel card program that provides secure and simple border crossings for citizens and legal residents of ten CARICOM nations.

    CARICOM, Guyana -- Jan. 13, 2011-- Arising from consultations held in Kingston, Jamaica, January 5-7, the Government of Haiti and representatives of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) agreed on several key project proposals designed to strengthen Haiti’s institutional and technical capacity in three priority areas: housing and settlement development; physical and environmental planning; and infrastructure development and coordination.

    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana -- Dec. 20, 2010 -- Australia has committed to providing A$17.5 million to support the Region’s efforts to adapt to climate change and to manage the impacts of natural disasters.


    Dec. 1, 2010 -- The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will soon launch one of the world’s first automated multi-state travel documents (CARIPASS) for use within ten (10) Participating countries of the Community.

    Nov. 30, 2010-- The JEOM has considered whether the irregularities it observed were of the magnitude and consistency that would invalidate the legitimacy of the process. Based on its observations in the eleven electoral departments, the Joint Mission does not believe that these irregularities, serious as they were, necessarily invalidated the process.

    CARICOM Secretariat, Guyana -- Nov. 22, 2010 -- The World Bank on Wednesday presented a programme to the Caribbean that would support initiatives for improved Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) within the Caribbean Forum of African Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM).
