    Kingston -- June 12, 2010 -- The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has granted US$221,000 (J$19.12M) to assist in finalising the divestment of Air Jamaica.


    April 29, 2010 -- As of May 1, Air Jamaica and Caribbean Airlines will implement a transition plan, which will see the lovebird continuing its operations under agreements with the Trinidadian carrier.

    Air J amaica Revenue Down 27% in 2009


    Kingston --April 14, 2010 --Air Jamaica's annual revenue dipped 26.7 per cent to US$257 million ($23 billion) in 2009 due to a reduction in its fleet which impacted positively on its efficiency, according to just-published data.


    Kingston -- March 20, 2010 -- National carrier Air Jamaica this week laid off 10 pilots and 100 flight attendants, but union representatives said Thursday that the cuts were expected and not directly associated with the pending deal with Caribbean Arlines Limited.



    Kingston -- Feb. 11, 2010 -- Shortly after taking office, the Government announced the decision to divest Air Jamaica. This decision was consistent with a commitment stated in our Manifesto as part of necessary measures to relieve the taxpayers of the burden of loss-making state-owned enterprises that were not considered part of the core functions of government.


    Negril, Westmoreland -- June 16, 2010 --Arguing that the West Indies Cricket and regional politicians have so far failed to unite the region, Ian Brunton, chief executive officer of Caribbean Airlines is bubbling with confidence that the partnership forged between Caribbean Airline and Air Jamaica will "unite the Caribbean people" and hailed the move as a great accomplishment.

    Air Jamaica Returns to Grand Cayman


    Kingston -- June 4, 2010—Air Jamaica today announced the resumption of service to Grand Cayman and the return of its popular summer service from New York (JFK) to Barbados and Grenada.


    Port-of-Spain -- May 19, 2010 (Newsday.co.tt,; by Vernon Khelawan) :  Caribbean Airlines will not have a smooth ride as it takes over routes formerly operated by Air Jamaica out of Norman Manley International Airport at Kingston and the Donald Sangster International at Montego Bay.


    Kingston -- May 17, 2010 -- IFC, a member of the World Bank Group,  successfully completed its role as lead advisor to the government of Jamaica in the structuring of the privatization of Air Jamaica, that culminated with the recent signing of an agreement between Jamaica’s government and Caribbean Airlines, the national airline of Trinidad and Tobago.



    Kingston -- May 7, 2010 -- Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Audley Shaw, said that the Government is satisfied that the partnership with Caribbean Airlines meets the objectives of the Air Jamaica Divestment Project and protects the interests of the Government and Jamaica as a whole.
