The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) commemorated and celebrated its fortieth anniversary last year. During those forty years, CARICOM has chalked up a wide range of achievements, some of which are impressive, others modest.
Bridgetown - March 5, 2014 - Through Technical Assistance from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), 21 representatives from 13 CDB borrowing member countries were among a group of professionals educated on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), gaining knowledge that is intended to contribute to the increased application of Geospatial Information Management to public sector decision-making, including on matters of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and disaster risk management.
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (February 14th, 2014) --For the first time, the Caribbean as a region is represented in one Association; the French, English, Spanish and Dutch,” boasted the Ambassador Alfonso Múnera, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), upon the acceptance of the French overseas territories of Martinique and Guadeloupe into the ACS as Associate Members in their own right. These were his words at the 19th Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the ACS which took place on February 14th, 2014.
Feb. 14, 2014 - A Commission from the OAS Mechanism for Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) will conduct, from April 22 to 24, an on-site visit to Grenada with the consent of the host country, as part of the follow-up “inter pares” process carried out by the Mechanism in various countries of the region.
