St. John's - July 26, 2012 - It’s all systems go, as Antigua and Barbuda gets prepared to host the historic regional assembly for the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda the Dr. Honorable   Baldwin Spencer expressed his elation over the twin island nation being chosen to host this momentous occasion.

The Prime Minister says his office is ready and fully prepared to host the regional assembly which takes place on August 10th, 2012.

Prime Minister Spencer noted the significance of the launch of the OECS assembly, stating it will bring representatives from all member
states of the OECS in a parliament that will be legislative in nature.

The importance of this is that the governmental representatives will be able to make decisions that will impact the lives of people living and working in the OECS member states.

The OECS assembly on August 10th 2012 will comprise of both Government and Opposition representatives from each member state in numbers which will reflect proportional representation in their respective parliaments.

During the assembly, the Order Paper for future meetings will also be established.

Thirty-nine (39) OECS delegates will be representing their countries at the August 10th assembly in Antigua and Barbuda.
