CUOPM and Taiwan Embassy sign Letter of Intent

Basseterre - Jan. 31, 2012 - The Communications Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister
of St. Kitts and Nevis (CUOPM) and the Embassy of the Republic of China
(Taiwan) in Basseterre have signed a Letter of Intent aimed at the
strengthening of bilateral relations between both nations.
The Letter
of Intent was signed by Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
His Excellency Mr. Miguel Tsao and Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and
Director of the Communications Unit, Mr. Erasmus Williams.
Under the
agreement, CUOPM has been designated a Contact Point for the Taiwan Academy and
will disseminate information concerning priority Fellowship and Scholarship
opportunities and activities of the Taiwan Academy and other activities and
areas of mutual cooperation.
The Embassy
of the Republic of China has agreed to provide printed and online information concerning
Taiwan Fellowship and Scholarship and offer priority opportunities for
applicants.
The Taiwan
Academy has agreed to provide exclusive access to the relevant websites which
contain rare material such as historic and diplomatic archives and facilitate
the exchange of relevant information and publications concerning relevant
topics and the learning of the Chinese language with traditional characters.
It is hoped
that the bilateral exchange in the areas of culture, education and academia
will strengthen bilateral cooperation between St. Kitts and Nevis and the
Republic of China (Taiwan).
