The theme of this year’s meeting is “Harnessing Technology for the Advancement of Law Enforcement.”
Minister of National Security, Sen. the Hon. Dr. L. Errol Cort says that this meeting of over 20 Police Commissioners together with officials from several related regional and international organizations in Law Enforcement comes at critical time for the region given our heightened state of alertness and the prevalence of certain violent crimes being committed in the territories.
Neal Parker, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of this year’s activity says he hopes that the conference will be a productive, result oriented one.
Matters to be discussed include an overview of how technology has served CARICOM security since 2007 and smarter policing and exploiting technology for greater insights to crime and enabling predictive policing.
During the Conference, presentations will be made by representatives from the US Marshall Services, the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the FBI and the DEA among others.
Minister Cort in his written welcome address to the delegates urged them as they met to discuss the vital role of technology and its contribution to the advancement of law enforcement, to continue to explore new and developing technologies that that will further enhance everyday policing operations.
