Seasonal service a staple for Linear Air
LEXINGTON, Mass.--- 17 Nov. 2006 -- Linear Air, a premier air-taxi operator that is transforming the private air travel industry, this week announced the expansion of their private air charter services to the Caribbean region. In Puerto Rico, the company will depart from the San Juan International Airport and the Isla Grande private airport.
Linear Air began its Caribbean operation this past Wednesday, November 15th and will continue the service through March 31, 2007. The company will offer charter service to many Caribbean islands including Vieques, Culebra, the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maarten, St. Barts, Tortola and others.
“The Caribbean is the ideal location for our focus on providing the best value in short-hop regional travel for leisure and business travelers,” says William Herp, President and CEO of Linear Air. “Our seasonal Caribbean service has become a staple for Linear Air as we continue to grow and expand our operation,” claims Mr. Herp.
Linear Air, which began private air charter operations in August of 2004, currently operates two permanent bases of operations, the first in Bedford, Massachusetts and the second in White Plains, New York. These two bases allow the company to accommodate both the Boston and New York City markets as well as other sections of the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and northeastern Canada.
Linear Air flies the Cessna Grand Caravan, an aircraft ideal for short hop regional travel. The Caravan comfortably seats up to eight passengers in true executive style with oversized leather seating, on board complimentary catering and large windows for spectacular aerial views. The Caravan has tremendous luggage capacity that easily accommodates seasonal tourists with loads of luggage, or local business teams wanting to golf for the day at off island locations such as Casa de Campo in La Romana in the Dominican Republic.
Linear Air maintains a Gold safety rating from ARG/US, the leading independent safety auditor in the aviation industry. Each flight is conducted with two pilots for no additional charge and the current rate for the Caravan is $895 per flight hour. Day trips from San Juan to St. Thomas will cost on average $1,500 for a round-trip making the flight for 8 passengers only $188.00 plus fees and taxes.
“Just one day after our arrival we operated our first charter from San Juan to Ponce, and we have already received bookings for the holiday season. Based on the level of interest we have received, we are looking forward to a very successful season,” claims Mr. Herp.
While Linear Air currently operates a fleet of Cessna Grand Caravans, the company has placed an ordered with aircraft manufacturer Eclipse Aviation for 30 Eclipse 500 very light jets. The company expects to take delivery of their first Eclipse 500 in early 2007 and may introduce the jet to the Caribbean as early as November of 2007.
