The Lecture, part of the ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations of the St. Augustine Campus, will be chaired by Dr. Iva Gloudon, UWI Director of Sport and Physical Education (SPEC). FIFA and SPEC jointly run an Executive Sport Management Programme. Mr Jack Warner, FIFA Vice President, will introduce Mr Blatter, and Professor Clement Sankat, UWI Pro Vice Chancellor and St Augustine Campus Principal, will deliver opening remarks. Professor Sankat announced the Blatter Lecture on Wednesday at the launch of “50–The Jubilee”, the upcoming week of celebration (October 10-17) which will mark the 50th Anniversary.
The campus’ week of celebrations includes several events, like the
Lecture, which are open to all UWI staff, students and the general
public. The week begins on Sunday 10th October with an
Inter-Faith Service at the John F. Kennedy Auditorium, starting at 10am.
Celebrations will continue on Monday 11th October at 6pm, with a
Panel Discussion titled “The Future of the University,” to be held at Daaga
Auditorium. On October 12th, the Central Bank Auditorium will host
the launch of “From Imperial College to University of the West Indies: A
History of the
The 50th Anniversary Week also includes several other events. A private reception will be hosted by Their Excellencies Professor George Maxwell Richards and Dr Jean Ramjohn-Richards on October 13th. The UWI Press will hold its Awards Ceremony at Daaga Auditorium on October 14th, and a special Retirees Recognition Ceremony will be held at Hilton Trinidad on Oct. 15th.
