New hotline accessible to callers throughout the Caribbean, the U.S. & Canada
Fort Lauderdale, FL – 26 Oct. 2006 – Caribbean Star Airlines and Caribbean Sun Airlines have launched a new toll-free reservations hotline – 1-800-723-1111 – providing passengers and travel agents with one centralized telephone point of contact for intra-regional air travel planning, purchasing and customer service needs.
The new reservations number is effective immediately and is accessible toll-free from all points within the region, the U.S. and Canada. Customers in the UK may dial 0800-051-6726 for toll-free reservations.
Skip Barnette, president & CEO of Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun, commented on the new toll-free hotline, saying: “Previously, we had several different numbers, none of which were accessible everywhere we flew. Now, with one universal toll-free number covering our entire route system, the U.S. and even Canada, we can provide the best possible customer service and sales support.”
With few exceptions – Guyana and St. Maarten among them – customers based in Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun destinations can access the new reservations hotline directly by dialing 1-800-723-1111. Customers based in Guyana must dial “159” ahead of the number (159-1-800-723-1111) while customers based in St. Maarten and other parts of the Netherlands Antilles must first dial “00” (001-800-723-1111).
The new toll-free reservations hotline is the latest in a series of enhancements adopted by Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun in 2006 to enhance customer care. Following is a list of the enhancements made this year:
• In January 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun outsourced their reservations operation to PRC (formerly Precision Response Corporation), one of the world’s foremost providers of call center management services. With its state-of-the-art technology and expanded language capabilities for Spanish- and French-speaking customers, the new call center has yielded an 85% increase in monthly call volume, while reducing the call abandonment rate by 50%.
• In February 2006, Caribbean Star added a new state-of-the-art Bombardier Q300 turboprop aircraft to its fleet. The first brand new aircraft introduced into service in the Caribbean in more than 10 years, the Q300 features Bombardier’s exclusive NVS or Noise and Vibration Suppression system that effectively reduces in-flight cabin noise to quieter levels more commonly found on larger jet aircraft.
• In April 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean
Sun contracted with Sabre Airline Solutions to develop and implement a graphical user interface (GUI) designed to make the airlines’ operations more efficient by simplifying the reservations and check-in processes for customers.
• Also in April 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun adopted new simplified fare structures featuring one-way pricing and fewer fare classes to make it easier for our customers to get the lowest fares.
• In June 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun reached an agreement with Montreal-based ExelTech Aerospace to outsource all heavy maintenance for the airlines’ fleet of Dash 8 turboprop aircraft, creating cost efficiencies and improving aircraft utilization.
• Also in June 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun contracted with Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS) to offer electronic ticketing for the first time. The airlines' reservations and airport check-in computing platform were upgraded to the EDS SHARES system, which also works seamlessly with the new Sabre GUI to help airport check-in staff serve customers more effectively.
• In July 2006, Caribbean Star accepted delivery of its second brand-new Q300 turboprop aircraft featuring Bombardier’s revolutionary NVS system.
• In August 2006, Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun launched new Web sites – www.flycaribbeanstar.com and www.flycsa, respectively. In addition to a fresh new design and improved navigation, the new sites feature a powerful online booking engine, affording both carriers the ability to offer Internet e-ticketing for the first time.
• In September 2006, Caribbean Star accepted delivery of its third and fourth brand-new Q300 turboprops featuring Bombardier’s revolutionary NVS system.
“Our goal is to achieve nothing short of absolute excellence in Caribbean air transportation,” added Barnette. “Customer service is a huge part of this, of course. With the moves we’ve made so far in 2006, we’ve taken a big step closer to getting where we want to be.”
