Philadelphians to get a Taste of Antigua and Barbuda
Philadelphia, Penn. --- 31 Oct. 2006---Philadelphians can escape the dreary fall weather and, instead, picture themselves engulfed in the sunlight and warmth of Antigua and Barbuda Nov. 3-5, 2006 at the city's first Caribbean Weekend -- presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The sister islands of Antigua and Barbuda, located in the heart of the Caribbean, will be featured at the event and invite all who attend to join their festivities.
The Caribbean-themed weekend will commence with cooking lessons at Macy's in the King of Prussia Mall and conclude with a Caribbean Village at the Philadelphia Inquirer/Daily News Travel Show in the Valley Forge Convention Center.
Renowned Antiguan chef, James Murphy, will be on-hand throughout the show offering cooking demonstrations to those who wish to taste and cook-up their own savory cuisine punctuated with zesty Antiguan and Barbudan spices.
Events scheduled as part of this first Caribbean Weekend in Philadelphia are as follows:
Friday, Nov. 3, 5:00pm to 8:30pm Caribbean Food and Entertainment at Macy's In-store event: Macy's at King of Prussia Mall 160 North Gulph Road King of Prussia, PA 19406
The Caribbean experience will begin with an in-store reception at Macy's in the King of Prussia Mall. Chef James Murphy, a native of Antigua, will provide cooking demonstrations and sampling to those attending. Murphy, sponsored by the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Tourism, has more than 14 years of experience in the food industry. Known for his extensive work with the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Tourism, he will showcase his specialty -- food carving and sculpting -- during the cooking demonstrations.

Antigua and Barbuda will be one of 22 Caribbean destinations featured in a lively Caribbean Village allowing consumers to gather information and immerse themselves in the spirit of this tropical escape. Guests will be able to meet Chef James Murphy of Antigua and watch as he prepares delicacies inspired by his country. The "tasteful" entertainment continues, as the Antigua and Barbuda booth will show an episode of the popular "$40 a Day with Rachel Ray" that was shot in Antigua.
