St. John's - May 20, 2010 -- The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has expressed great satisfaction with the work that has gone into getting the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground ready for the hosting of matches in the Digicel Series between West Indies and South Africa.

Dr Ernest Hilaire, Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, said the organizers have been working tirelessly to get ready for the matches and he is confident the series will get off to a smooth start with the first Digicel T20 International on Wednesday. First ball is 2 pm (1 pm Jamaica Time). The second Digicel T20 will be at the same ground on Thursday. The ground will also stage the first and second Digicel One-Day Internationals on Saturday, May 22 and Monday, May 24. Those matches start at 9.30 am (8.30 am Jamaica Time).

“A lot of people have worked very hard to get the facility and the outfield up to international standard and ready for the start of the Digicel Series and we are confident everything will be in place and will work well,” Dr Hilaire said. “The organization has been magnificent. To have the place ready in two weeks for four international matches is a tremendous achievement. This is an excellent effort by all those who have made a contribution and we look forward to some good cricket in the coming days between the two teams.”

“We want to urge the people of Antigua and Barbuda to come out and be part the cricket that is coming up. There will be the two T20 Internationals and the two One-Day Internationals, and fans can also be part of the activities off the field. We have created a carnival atmosphere so everyone can participate and enjoy the games.”
