Agreement promotes international co-operation in tax matters
Dec. 23, 2009 -- On 15 December 2009, His Excellency, Dr. Carl B. Roberts, High
Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda signed a Tax Information Exchange
Agreement (TIEA) with the Government of Ireland.
The signing of this agreement and the recent agreement with Belgium on 7 December, 2009, officially moves Antigua and Barbuda off the "grey list" of countries that was put together by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
It also represents Antigua and Barbuda fully meeting international standards in transparency and exchange of information relating to tax matters. The signing took place at the Irish Embassy in London with Ambassador Bobby McDonagh representing the Government of Ireland. The purpose of the Agreement is to promote international co-operation in tax matters through exchange of information.
