ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, November 30, 2009 – In response to concerns raised by members of the travelling public that industrial action by LIAT pilots could disrupt regional travel on Tuesday 01st December 2009, the airline’s management wishes to assure customers that it has no reason to believe that its flights would not be operating as scheduled.

The LIAT management also takes this opportunity to assure the travelling public that it remains committed to the arbitration process announced in July following a meeting of LIAT’s three main shareholder Prime Ministers, Board of Directors, Executive Management and Employees’ Representatives in St. Vincent.

The Chairman of the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) has also indicated his union’s commitment to allow the arbitration to proceed free of industrial disruption.

The
arbitration process is being governed by the Arbitration Act (No. 12 of 1975) of Antigua and Barbuda.
Hearings relating to the Arbitration are scheduled to begin at LIAT’s Headquarters on Tuesday, 01st December 2009 with representatives of LIAT’s Management and LIALPA expected to outline their positions to the three-man Arbitration Panel chaired by Mr. W. Leroy Inniss QC, of Barbados.
