Aug. 26, 2008 -- Orion Developers Ltd. recently broke ground on The DeckHouses, an exclusive enclave of superbly-designed homes nestled in a latticework of canals between The Ritz-Carlton on Seven Mile Beach and the North Sound in Grand Cayman.

With a projected value of $110 million in residential sales, The DeckHouses is comprised of 19 unique five-bedroom, five-bath gated single family residences, each on a private estate with full access to the services and amenities of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Over half of the properties have been sold and swift construction progress has been made with the excavation of the private coves and boat basins; installation of infrastructure; 1,300 feet of rip-rap for shoreline stabilization; pilings and grade beams.  Careful selection of the interior design elements is in the final phases and will include custom lighting from world-renowned Los Angeles designer, Paul Ferrante.

“The DeckHouses represent the newest concept of waterfront living and luxury lifestyle in the Caribbean,” said Mike Ryan, owner and developer of The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. “Owners can move from the deck of a luxury home to the deck of a luxury boat in one fluid motion – a single step that offers a personal connection to the water and integrates outdoor and indoor living seamlessly.”

The DeckHouses, part of phase two in Grand Cayman’s only sea-to-sea resort community, will incorporate some of nature’s finest building blocks--natural woods and local stone--to define each new home. Each estate, strategically positioned for inspiring panoramic views and gentle breezes, comes complete with a private beach, infinity-edge pool, summer kitchen, two exotic outdoor showers accessed from the master suite bath and a guest bath, separate guest cottage and more.  Embraced by tropical island foliage, each home will feature over 6,000 square feet of living space with additional sun decks, terraces and a private attached boathouse with a state-of-the-art lift.

The DeckHouses, concealed amongst lush gardens and a palm-banked single main drive, will celebrate the beauty and timelessness of the colonial British.  Zurcher Arquitectos, based in Costa Rica, used the water as a strong element in the architectural design and interiors by Hughes Design Associates pay tribute to the region’s heritage.

Further distinguishing The DeckHouses from other home ownership options in the Caribbean, all owners and their guests will have full access to the facilities and amenities of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, which, since opening in 2005, has earned worldwide accolades for its fine restaurants, golf, spa, luxury shopping and unparalleled setting on Seven Mile Beach.  DeckHouse owners will enjoy access to the resort’s exclusive Greg Norman-designed Blue Tip golf course, dining at Blue by Eric Ripert, and other resort facilities and activities.

Unparalleled lifestyle options will be available to DeckHouse owners, including personal ownership of an Italian antique-style hand-crafted wood watercraft, a luxury vehicle, personal golf cart and full personal butler service.  With the Cayman Islands’ status as a British Overseas Territory, along with its extremely favorable tax climate, it offers real estate purchasers a welcome stability.
