St. John's---Aug. 31, 2006---The Home Stay programme which was set up to create opportunities for
visitors to access rooms in homes here in Antigua & Barbuda is set
to go live on the ICC Cricket World Cup Site as of 1 September.
This is according to Overseer of the Home Stay Programme and Managing
Director of Grand Events, Elma Humphreys. According to Humphreys, as of
Friday, individuals who plan to visit the island for Cricket World Cup
2007 will be able to book their accommodations directly through the
site and a Grand Events link. She, however, admitted that
previewing of rooms will not be a feature on the site since they were
still in the process of viewing and inspecting the rooms being offered
by individuals.
At last count, the Home Stay Programme had received an offering of
almost 500 rooms from locals. The programme was set up with a view of
supplementing the approximately 3,000 rooms presently available in
hotels and resorts which will be in high demand during the period when
the nation will be hosting the games.
