April 10, 2008 -- Virgin Media Television has commissioned UK producer October Films to make a new factual crime series on location in the Caribbean.

Caribbean Cops (8x60') is bound for Virgin's general entertainment channel Virgin 1 and will sit in the broadcaster's primetime schedule this summer.

The series will be shot on location in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Lucia, and will capture the drama behind policing these holiday destinations and keeping the islands safe.

Throughout the series, cameras follows each of the islands' local police forces in their battles against international drug smuggling, gun crime and homicide, as well as other crimes directly linked with the tourist trade.

Daniela Neumann, Virgin 1's acting director of programming, described the series as "a perfect example of Virgin 1's strategy to create compelling, populist primetime factual programming that both informs and entertains."
