Bonaire- March 26, 2008 -- Plans
are underway for the 4th Annual Pro Kids Worlds slated for July 27- Aug.3,
2008. Bonaire has hosted this exciting event
for 3 years and has seen growth in attendance each year. Last year over 130
kids competed. Event organizers expect this year’s attendance to eclipse
previous events. Over 10 qualifiers will be held around the globe including
some new venues such as Norway,
Sweden, Denmark and Estonia.
Winners will travel to Bonaire,
the site for the finals. New to the event will be slalom racing. Endorsed by
IFCA this year’s event will host racing with 2009 to be the premiere year for Bonaire to host the Slalom worlds. Event sponsor
Starboard is very excited about the new changes that lie ahead. With the
addition of many new European venues for the qualifiers Starboard expects a
greater expansion of the sport amongst the youth. Many old school windsurfers
are now parents and are now training side by side with their children who will
be attending the freestyle and slalom events. Windsurfing is clearly a
multigenerational sport and these events seek to encourage camaraderie and
spirit. Bonaire event organizers are excited
for a week long event that will be accompanied by island culture and fun.
