Package Deals the Only Way to See CWC 2007 Finals Now
ICC Cricket World Cup, August 25, 2006...The only way to possibly get a ticket to the grand finale of ICC
Cricket World Cup 2007 now is by purchasing Hospitality or Tour &
Travel packages.
All tickets, allocated for sale via Public Ticketing, to the Finals of
the showpiece tournament have been sold. As anticipated, tickets to the
Finals were in greatest demand during the recent Application Phase of
Public Ticketing with every category - including the best seats at
US$300 apiece and the US$200-per-person Party Stand - being
oversubscribed. As a result, the allocation of Finals tickets had to be
determined by a ballot.
However, fans still have a chance of
seeing the stellar match - to be held at Kensington Oval in Barbados
next April 28 - through package deals. Cricket Logistics 2007 has a limited supply of Tour & Travel packages, including match
tickets, for the Finals. Likewise, some Hospitality packages remain.
General Manager of Cricket Hospitality 2007, Tom Roche, disclosed that fans can still buy Enclosure and Hamper packages for the Finals - but they should not delay.
"Fans
need to be buying their packages now because if they wait too long
there will be nothing left. This not only applies to the Finals but, to
both Semi-Finals as well, because they are proving very popular. In
fact, because of how the match schedule is structured, people are
buying combinations of Hospitality packages to watch Super 8 matches in
Barbados, then go to Saint Lucia or even Jamaica for a Semi-Final, and
come back to Barbados for the Finals," he said, adding that Hospitality
sales for the top three tournament matches have numbered in the
thousands.
This news is borne out by the fact that there are
only a few Party Stand tickets for the Saint Lucia Semi-Final available
via Public Ticketing while there are no Category 1 seats for the
Jamaica Semi-Final and only limited Category 2, 3 and Party Stand
tickets.
The Super 8 matches for April 15, 17, 19 and 21 in
Barbados are "on the verge of selling out as far as tickets via Public
Ticketing are concerned", reported ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Manager,
Stephen Price. Various other Super 8 fixtures have also been "heavily
sold", including those in Antigua & Barbuda and Grenada. The Group
Stage clash between top seeds, Australia, and South Africa in St. Kitts
& Nevis on March 24 is selling well too.
There was high
demand for both Follow A Path and Venue Combination packages that were
available during Phase 1 of Public Ticketing. These are no longer for
sale.
"We're starting to see the Event come to life with the
computation of numbers of fans attending various matches and the
allocation of tickets. It's been a very exciting process but one that
constantly reminds us of how much we all have to deliver across the
region with thousands of people coming our shores for the Cricket World
Cup," noted Price, reminding that fans from 124 countries applied
during the first wave of Public Ticketing.
All applicants who
provided an email address have now been emailed their respective
notifications, indicating whether they were allocated all, some or none
of the tickets for which they applied.
Phase 2 of Public
Ticketing starts on Friday September 1, 2006, and will operate on a
"first come, first served" basis which runs until Thursday November 30,
2006, with the remaining ICC CWC 2007 tickets being sold online (www.cricketworldcup.com) and at the Official Ticket Centres in the nine Host Venues across the Caribbean.
