Atlanta, Ga. – Sept. 2, 2007 – Just two months following their 45 year anniversary celebration, the Jamaican community in Atlanta is pulling together in response to the recent destruction in Jamaica caused by Hurricane Dean.

Atlanta’s Jamaican Honorary Consul, Hon. Vin Martin, along with many other Jamaican organizations, announces the formation of the Hurricane Dean Disaster Relief Fund. Honorary Consul Martin states “I expected our Jamaican community to respond quickly and generously and I am very excited about the support being demonstrated by the rest of the Atlanta community”.

Support is on the rise. A number of local business owners have offered their locations as relief collection points and many concerned individuals have called to offer financial contributions.
