Canada showed strongest growth
According to statistics gathered on the country's main markets by the Research Unit within the Ministry of Tourism, Canada received the strongest growth of 26%, followed by the US with an increase of 14% and the UK with 13%.
Growth was also noted in the non-traditional markets such as the Italian (6%) and German (4%) markets, while the French market showed a slight decline.
Within the Caribbean region there has been a decline of 17% when compared to arrivals received last July.
Director General of Tourism, Lorraine Headley indicated that a number of factors inclusive of persons traveling for the carnival celebrations, vacation, or to visit family and friends, contributed to the significant growth received from the various markets in July.
Stayover arrivals for the year to date amounts to 159,014 visitors.
