Aim is to increase tourism to Grenada

St. George’s, Grenada – June 18, 2007 - Grenada is expected to be profiled in some of the United States and United Kingdom’s biggest publications.

Journalists from some of the UK’s top newspapers and magazines have just ended a three day trip to Grenada compliments Peter de Savary’s Port Louis Grenada and Mount Cinnamon Grenada. Cheryl Markosky from the Daily Mail and Overseas Telegraph, Jessica Hewitson from the Observer, Lucy Alexander of the Times; Cathy Hawker of the Evening Standard and Andrew Williamson from the Square Mile were all brought to Grenada by Mr. Peter de Savary and his team. While in Grenada the journalists toured some of Grenada’s best known attractions including the Grand Etang Rain forest; the River Antoine and Belmont Estates; the market square and the Forts of St. George’s and the Concorde Falls.

Journalist that were in Grenada in May from the US included Ann Geracimos from the Washington Times, Skip Knowles of Luxury Living, Jennifer Soderborg of Showboats International, Scott Resch of the The Robb Report, Sarah Liu of Caribbean Travel and Life as well as Mary Wilson of Mail on Sunday, Alan Harper of Motor Boat & Yachting, Jessica Bowen of LUX Magazine, Samir Desai of ProFile, Jessica Wilson of I-Magazine and Alan Fox of Lusso from the United Kingdom.

All of them reported how overwhelmed they were by the diversity that Grenada has to offer visitors. “We have been to islands before but Grenada really does offer a complete package, of lovely beaches, beautiful tropical forests and the culture and history that go along with your forts,” remarked one of the journalists. As they were leaving, they made jokes amongst each other about not wanting to leave the island and what a great time they had and also commented about the genuine friendliness of everyone in Grenada.

The UK Group also got a chance to see some of the lesser known spots as they had a blast tasting a variety of local rums and other concoctions at Pappy’s Rum Shop in St. John’s.

This is the third press trip Mr. de Savary has organized for foreign press this year and he says it will be by no means the last. “In a few days time we have another group coming from some of the top newspapers and property magazines in the USA. When we started this project we promised the Grenadian people that we would bring exposure to Grenada from all over the world. The idea behind sponsoring these trips is to increase tourism by showcasing to the world what Grenada has to offer. We will continue to work with Government and private tourism partners to achieve this,” Mr. de Savary remarked.

The Journalists have all put in bids to come back to Grenada when Mr. de Savary’s Port Louis and Mount Cinnamon properties are completed however, they are all raving about the beauty and unique features of both properties.
