Tijuana, Mexico -- May. 24, 2007 – Orphaned children, street animals and
elderly folks with mobility issues have received an important gift from Tesoro
Resorts: hope.
Tesoro Resorts, a trio of hotels located along Mexico’s Pacific Coast in Los
Cabos, Manzanillo and Ixtapa, showed its commitment to local charities by
reaching out and contributing to recent humanitarian endeavors. “We pride
ourselves on giving back to the community and living by our code of ethics,”
explained Steadfast Resorts CEO Rod Emery, who coined the motto: Proceed With
Integrity, Value People, Embrace Opportunities, Pursue Excellence, Do Good As
We Do Well.
Mr. Emery set a prime example by donating a gift of mobility and independence,
with 300 new wheelchairs to be distributed to disadvantaged and elderly
residents in Cabo San Lucas through the DIF, the federal family welfare system.
At least 200 more are awaiting distribution through appropriate channels in
Manzanillo and Ixtapa.
Meanwhile, in mid-March, Tesoro Manzanillo hosted a gala evening for 240 guests
with entertainment from the activities staff and Las Vegas singer Frances Koll, helping raise
more than $10,000 US to benefit Casa Hogar Liborio Espinoza, a local orphanage
that is home to 30 needy children. “To help those children in a financial way,
while entertaining the generous sponsors and donors, we reaffirmed our role
within the local community,” said Tesoro Manzanillo General Manager Francisco
Zuazua. “It gave us great satisfaction to lend a hand and show our support for
those in need here in Manzanillo.”
But humans are not the only beneficiaries of Tesoro’s charitable donations. The
hotel group also reached out to four-legged friends, donating several
all-inclusive vacations at all three PacificCoast properties to raise
funds for PATA Manzanillo (www.PATAManzanillo.com), an animal welfare charity
providing free spay and neuter operations to pets of low income families. The
prizes garnered more than $500 US on the auction block and helped the charity
sponsor a five-day sterilization clinic for animals.
In the end, it’s all a part of Steadfast Resorts’ quest for excellence. “Tesoro
Resorts as a brand emphasizes human connections and the preciousness of life,”
says Mr. Emery. “We recognize our social responsibility to empower others to
achieve their personal best and pledge to assist any way we are able.”
