Georgetown, GINA --  May 24, 2007 -- The Region’s new flag carrier Caribbean Airlines on January 1 graced the skies following the British West Indian Airline’s withdrawal last December and already new destinations and flight packages are on the cards for passengers.

After meeting with the Head of State President Bharrat Jagdeo on May 21, Chief Executive Officer of Caribbean Airlines Peter Davies said,         “June 1 we will be launching a direct service to Bridgetown (Barbados) so we will be flying a triangular route: from Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) to Georgetown, Georgetown to Bridgetown and from Bridgetown to Port of Spain and we reverse that trip in the evenings. So it will be possible for business people to make a day trip to Barbados.”

He said another area being explored is the operation of direct flights from Guyana to North America. This, Davies said should eliminate the inconvenience of passengers having to fly through Trinidad and Tobago en-route to North America

Service is important to Caribbean Airlines and as such customer feedback is always solicited to ensure the airline evolves into one that is effective and efficient, Davies said.
