332 species of birds covered
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad --- March 3, 2007 -- The National Library Service of Trinidad and Tobago recently acquired copies of the CD, Discovering the Birds of Trinidad and Tobago for use in the public libraries throughout Trinidad and Tobago. The CD is the result of several years of research by the author, Mr. Brian Ramsey and contains information on 332 species of birds found in Trinidad and Tobago accompanied by over 820 colour photographs. A bonus feature of the CD is the information and photographs of various tropical plants and animals.
The Public Libraries Division of the National Library and Information System Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is responsible for administering and coordinating a network of Public Libraries, serving citizens throughout Trinidad. There are 23 public libraries, with twenty of the libraries being located throughout Trinidad and three libraries in Tobago. One of the aims of the Public Libraries division is to provide efficient and reliable access to information to the public, using state of the art technology.
The CD is intended to benefit the casual birdwatcher along with the dedicated environmentalist plus tourists, students, teachers and anyone with an interest in the bird life of Trinidad and Tobago. A key benefit of the CD is the search engine that allows the user to select any aspect of a bird, such as the colour, habitat, location or any other aspect and find everything on the CD that matches the search term.
